3.1. In General

We collect only personal data that you provide to us voluntarily and with your consent. Calvert takes measures to ensure that we collect personal data for specified, explicit and legitimate reasons only – namely, to provide services to you and meet our legal obligations. We also take steps to limit the personal data we collect to only the minimum necessary to carry out our mission.

  • Communicate with us via e-mail or other channels;
  • When you sign up for our financial reports and newsletters, or;
  • When you sign up for an event.

In these instances, we may collect personal data such as your name, e-mail address, postal address, phone and fax number, company name, job title and/or your impact areas of interest (for example: climate change or affordable housing).

If you request materials or invest in our Community Investment Notes®, we may also collect personal data, such as your birthdate, social security number, bank account and optional demographics (occupation, location, etc.).

3.2. Log Files

We use log files to record data about each users’ visit to our Site. When you visit the Site, we collect the IP (Internet Protocol) address connected to your computer (or the proxy server you use to access the World Wide Web), your computer operating system, the type of browser you are using, mobile device operating system (if you are accessing the Site using a mobile device), as well as the name of your ISP ("Internet Service Provider") or your mobile carrier. We use this information to analyze overall trends to help improve the Site. We do not share log data with third parties unless required by law to do so.

We use cookies, which track user behavior, to inform enhancements to the overall user experience on our Site. A cookie is a piece of data stored on your device, containing information about your online activity.

We use Google Analytics and Hotjar to understand Site users' needs and to optimize the Site's service and experience. Google Analytics and Hotjar track usage information on the Site, including top webpages, what links users click, time spent on the Site, visitor demographics, and sources of traffic to the Site. Google Analytics and Hotjar use cookies and other technologies to collect data on users’ behavior and their devices (in particular devices' IP address captured and stored only in anonymized form), device screen size, device type (unique device identifiers), browser information, geographic location (country only), and preferred language used to display on the Site.

We do not use Google Analytics or Hotjar to track, collect or upload any data that personally identifies an individual (such as a name, email address or billing information), or other data which can be reasonably linked to such information by Google Analytics or Hotjar. 3.5. Surveys

From time to time, we may collect information from you via an online survey. Participation in these surveys is completely voluntary. Information requested may include personal and demographic information. Survey information will be used for purposes of monitoring and improving the Site and/or Calvert products and services.

  • Send you our Impact Report or our monthly email update;

  • Answer questions you submit to us;

  • Administer our investment services; and

If you are an investor in the Community Investment Notes, we may also use your personal data to process your investment application, to maintain your account and to provide updates related to the Community Investment Notes.

5. Ways We Share Your Personal Data

5.1. In General

We have not and will not sell or lease your personal data to third parties. In the context of the uses of personal data mentioned in the section above, we may share your personal data with third-parties we engage to help provide services to you. These third parties include, but are not limited to, organizations that provide:

  • Payment processing for our Community Investment Notes;
  • Customer relationship management (CRM) platform;
  • Business resilience and disaster recovery;
  • User authentication tools and services;
  • Auditing platforms and services;
  • Correspondence regarding investments; and
  • Email and direct marketing tools and services.

5.2. Special Circumstances

  • As required to by law or in response to a subpoena or other government information request;

5.3. Sharing Aggregate Information

When Calvert requests demographic information requested during an information request or registration, you have the option not to provide this information. We encourage you to do so that we may gain a better understanding of your needs, and so that we may serve you in a more personalized manner.

In certain instances, we may share aggregate information with strategic partners. For example, we may tell a partner that X number of individuals visited a certain area on the Site, or that Y number of men and Z number of women filled out our registration form. We do not disclose information that could be used to uniquely identify you.

5.4. Opting-Out of Sharing Your Personal Data

6. Personal Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as you are a business contact to us or as needed to provide you services (including to service any investment you may have in the Community Investment Note). Though you may have the right to request that we delete your personal data under GDPR, Calvert will retain and use your personal data as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

7. Special Notice for Individuals in the European Economic Area (EEA)

If you are resident in the European Union (EU), please be aware that we operate the United States. As such, we may transfer your personal data from the European Economic Area (EEA) to the US to provide you services or otherwise communicate with you. Calvert takes measures to ensure that your personal data is adequately safeguarded when transferred, processed, and stored in the United States or elsewhere. In doing so, we aim to comply with applicable EU data privacy laws and regulations.

By using Calvert's services or otherwise communicating with us electronically, you acknowledge that we may transfer, process or store your personal data outside the EEA, and that we may share your personal data as described in the How We Share Your Personal Data section above.

In order to use the bank account linking functionality that is part of Calvert's investment platform, you must open an "Access API" account provided by our payment partner Dwolla, Inc. ("Dwolla"), and by opening such account you are deemed to have accepted the Dwolla Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Any funds held in your Dwolla account are held by Dwolla's financial institutional partners as described in the Dwolla Terms of Service. You hereby authorize Calvert to share your identity and account data with Dwolla for the purposes of opening and supporting your Dwolla account, and you are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of that data. Your Dwolla account will be accessed using Calvert's web application. Calvert's web application is subject to Calvert's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, and all notifications will be sent by Calvert, not Dwolla. 8. Assumption of Risk

You use the Internet solely at your own risk and subject to all applicable local, state, national, and international laws and regulations. Although Calvert has endeavored to create a secure and reliable Site, the confidentiality of any communication or material transmitted to/from this Site over the Internet cannot be guaranteed. Accordingly, Calvert is not responsible for the security of any information transmitted via the Internet, the accuracy of the information contained on the Site, or for the consequences of any reliance on such information. 9. Events beyond Calvert's Control

No waiver by Calvert of any right under this Agreement will be deemed to be either a waiver of any other right or provision or a waiver of that same right or provision at any other time. If any provision of this Agreement is held unlawful, void or unenforceable for any reason by a court or tribunal of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be enforced to the maximum extent permissible so as to affect the intent of the parties, and the remainder of this Agreement shall continue in full force and effect. This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of Maryland, without regard to conflicts of law rules, and the exclusive jurisdiction and venue for any dispute shall be Maryland. You agree to submit to the jurisdiction of the state and federal courts in Maryland for the purposes of any judicial proceedings relating to or arising from this Agreement.
